Thanksgiving in Detroit

Happy Thanksgiving from De-twah. I went to the Detroit Thanksgiving Day parade, then to the Detroit Lions vs. Greenbay Packers butt kicking thanksgiving day football game. The only team I was supporting was the Mungadai transition team. I had the all you can eat seats so I ate all the nachos I wanted. Go Team!

Thanksgiving Post

Just a friendly (mandatory) post to update everyone on the Thanksgiving Holiday. I've been TDY and had a few days home to celebrate with Shellbird. It was a great time although too short. Hope everyone had an enjoyable and safe Holiday. A few pics, before, during and after. I'm looking forward to everyone's posts. Take care.

I currently don't own a camera, funny how that works!!! Thanksgiving was uneventful, I woke up to the 007 marathon and bounced between that and the discovery channel marathon. Later that day I made a huge pot of turkey chili with habanero's and other hot ingredients. The chili was AWESOME and lasted a few days which worked out well for breakfast, lunch and dinner. In between episodes of whatever was on the tv, I continued reading Bravo Two Zero so I can then read Chris Ryans "The One That Got Away" and then Horse Soldiers. Not a very exciting thanksgiving, but I am going home for Christmas so I'm stoked about that. Oh I almost forgot I sent nasty emails to Max Lumber, yeah no slack in the "6" truck!!!

After Operations Maintenance

By request of Shellbird wanting some pics of the Mungadai I went around and snapped a few which conveniently kept me looking busy. As you can see it's just a flurry of activity while we are conducting our inventory and some after ops maintenance getting all of our gear prepared for the next guys. So with the vehicles washed, weapons cleaned and all items accounted for and serviceable we are now preparing for a BBQ as this will be our last night in these barracks! One step closer to our families and friends!

Mmmmmmm Cookie

Buhdda likes his snacks, there's no telling what he'll break out at any given time. As we're getting ready to wrap it up here and doing some after ops maintenance on our equipment it looks like he forgot about this tasty morsel tucked away under his pads in his helmet. No wonder why we always caught a whiff of Nestle tollhouse peanut butter cookies as he walked by. No thanks, I don't want a bite.

Street Scenes, 05 AUG

To all our loved ones, especially the Mungababes: sorry we haven't been posting much (uh, okay, at all) lately. Everyone (the Coalition, the Transition Teams, the Federal Police, the Army, and the good citizens of Mosul) has been busy adjusting to the new, post-30 June "Combat Forces out of the Cities" clause of the US/Iraqi Security Agreement.
Although the Mungadai are extraordinarily adept at that whole "combat" thing, we count as advisors, and are therefore allowed, in the Security Agreement, to accompany our counterparts the Federal Police (yes, it used to be the National Police, but everyone here thought that "Federal Police" had a little more pizzazz to it). As we all know, though, the details of actually executing a treaty can be a little more messy than just writing it down and signing it. So, the Mungadai have been really constrained, in the last few weeks, in actually accompanying our counterparts out and about on operations. However, we've worked through a lot of the legal-ese and are getting things squared away. So, here are some scenes from today's operations:
